Hillary

Breeding Manager

Hillary joined our barn staff after she graduated from Morrisville State College in the spring of 2012 with a B.T. in Equine Science and Management specializing in Breeding Management. From there, she played an active role in the breeding operation while working side by side with the breeding manager and beginning her career at Leatherstocking as an assistant breeding manager. This opportunity opened her reproductive skills to include processing and freezing semen. As Leatherstocking’s current breeding manager, Hillary is responsible for managing non-Standard bred broodmares, stallions, and keeping a close eye on the neonatal care and an active member of the on call foaling team. She is also a part of barn care team, and plays a role in helping the facility stay in tip top shape amongst other daily farm duties. As a significant team member since 2012, she has been cross-trained and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Hillary is no stranger to the active and busy life style and thrives in it. In 2015 she acquired her license to Race Under Saddle (A hybrid of Harness Racing where horses are ridden and raced at the trotting gait) and has raced a few different horses since then and competed in many races even outside of NY. She resides in Pittsfield, NY with her boyfriend and her dog and cat, Charlie and Mitsy. Her horse addiction has multiplied and she and Russell now currently own 2 racehorse trotters, 1 broodmare, and their pet at home, a redhead Thoroughbred mare, Goldie. In her spare time she enjoys riding and training her horses, helping out with racing and paddocking racehorses, fishing/kayaking, and spending quality time with friends and family.
